Vocation in Kota Bahru

I went to Kelantan last weekend, to be exact; I was in Kota Bahru from 23 May – 25 May.

Before I started my journey, I did a lot of survey on line. I visited almost all related web site. I called almost all hotel, chalets and motel in Kota Bahru but all fully booking for 24 May. Luckily, I found a web site talking about kampong stay and I was attracted by the pictures shown.

http://www.pasirbelanda.com/

At first I am quite worry to make booking because this chalet required us to make full payment upon booking. Anyway, I have no choice too, if I don’t stay in this chalet, I have to go to those small motels in town. So, I made the payment. It was a long journey from Penang to Kelantan. We are not familiar with the road, so we drove along the way until Pantai Cahaya Bulan resort because we thought that it should be nearby only. Definitely we are wrong. The chalet is actually nearer to town compared to PCB. This is the instruction given in the web site (obviously I didn’t really read in detail, so I missed it)

By car:
In Kota Bharu follow the signboards to the beach Pantai Cahaya Bulan.
Turn right about 100 meters after the big Mosque in Kampung Banggol (on the PCB road) and follow the signboards to Pasir Belanda.

You need to be careful that their sign board will be blocked. This is because the local people might have some function in house and they will stick some notice on the board to show the way to their house. That is why we didn’t see that board and overshoot until PCB. Actually PCB is quite far from them. The chalet located deep inside after you turn in from the main road, it made us worried about the condition when we saw the kampong houses around.

It really surprised us when we arrive, the compound is very tidy, and the chalets are nice. Once our car arrived, Mr Harry – the owner who is a Dutch came out to welcome us. We fall in love by the first sight (to the chalet not Mr Harry!! Anyway, he is young and quite good looking :P)

Surprisingly, I realize that we took fewer pictures this trip compared to other trips that we had before. That is why you didn’t see me upload any new picture. So, if you want to see the picture of the chalet, go to the web site, the picture shown is exactly what we see in reality.

My Angry Holiday

Last Monday-Wesak Day was a bad day for me. Early in the morning, we received a call that Francis’s Grandma passed away. On the way back to my house after dropping him at jetty, a stupid car bangs into my car. That is a 3 lane road, I’m in the middle lane, the blue Toyota Corrolla is on the my left lane, his lane has been taken by a car who turn out from a parking lot, so he move into my lane without signal and bang my car at the bumper near to my left backside tyre. The road was so crowded, avoiding traffic jam, I continue driving and stop in front of a traffic light.

The stupid driver walked down from the car and said it was my fault and get back to his car again. Then he just drove away because the traffic light turned green. I just wrote down his plat number. Immediately at that point, I regretted that I continue moving without taking any photo of the scene, if not I’ll make sure that he learn his lesson. Actually I almost wanted to log police report but it’s actually just scratches my car (although we still need to pay on our own to repaint it).

What make me feel angry with him is, his job should be very "holy" and teach people to love each other (I know because he is wearing the special uniform for that holy position)....but he himself is a bad example!!

Eventhough I let him go, I didn't say that I won't blog about him, so I chase after his car, took his picture. This is the plat number.

Too bad, failed to take picture of his face.

Think twice if you think you still have 2nd chance

May 11, 2008, many people celebrated Mother’s Day; at the same time, many people didn’t, because they think there are still plenty of years to go, they can’t celebrate this year but they can celebrate next year.

May 12, 2008, 14:28, Magnitude 7.9 earthquake happened in Sichuan China. More then 34000 people found dead until yesterday night. How many of them were a mother who just miss the chance to celebrate their last mother’s day? How many of them were a child who just thought that they will have chance to celebrate the next mothers day with their mother?

May 21, 2008. Chances of surviving under the boulders are smaller and smaller. Survivors still suffer thinking of their family, relatives and friends lying somewhere under the boulders helplessly. Physical might be recovered slowly but how many of them suffering from physiological injuries for life? How many of them spending life time with felt of guilty because they miss the chance to spend the last quality time with them family?

Thank God

I really thank God for everything happened in my life.

I started to work from year 2005. The pay that I get in my first job was way too low compared to the market. It affected the salary that offered in my next job as well. I did question God at that time, why God didn’t stop me from accepting the job? Why can’t I get a better job like what my other friends have?

The answer is: So that I can meet my first boss who is my personal financial and my advisor now. In fact, she is my bank sometime when I have no money (especially large amount-of cause, I return the money by installment).I joined my 2nd company with her help too (she can’t pay me higher and she understand that I have burden, so she help to amend my resume, allow me to go for interview as well).

I take a risk to join the second job. This is a multinational company; I called it “A”. I decided to join even I don’t really interested in the job because of the pay. Once I am in for 3 months, I regretted. I have a good buddy who lead me through my first 3 months, I’m happy with it. After 3 months, my job scope changed. I started to realize this is not the thing that I want and my personality doesn’t suit the style of my direct supervisor (he need someone who wanted to kiss his ass…obviously I’m not that kind of people). I started to question God again, why I have to be in this hot pan?

The answer is: So that this is my stepping stone to get higher payment in my future company (the different between my salary in 1st company and this “A” company is RM 533 then the different between "A" company and my current company is RM 525+ 15% EPF every month). I can meet some of my good colleagues. God know there is a time gap before I can join my 3rd company and I can leave without any job in hand. I left at the right time, right after I got my performance bonus (I should only get it after another 3 months), right before my boss killing me by asking me to do more things that I don’t like.

I am working happily in my current company now. I just won the grand prize of a credit card competition; I travel a lot even though it’s only local for time being. I got chances to join a lot of different event. I am building up a strong network. I’m back into my own field (communication). I am happy with my life now. I am really happy.

Thank God for all I have now.

Thai New Year Festival –SONGKRAN

You13 April is very important to Thailand people because it’s their new year. You don’t know about it? At lease you heard about a festival where everyone will pour water on you because the water means blessing? That is SONGKRAN FESTIVAL which is Thai New Year.

I never attend any related celebration before although I wanted to. This year, due to my job, I have the chance to be in the temple. My manager was there together with me, he did tell me to prepare to get wet, really wet and I should put all the money and important things into plastic bag. Luckily I listened to him. I almost don’t want to border because I though I will only get to see but not involve because I’m working. Haha, I was wrong, TOTALLY WRONG.

The situation is still ok in the morning because I’m selling things, so the public just walk by and some of them just use mineral water bottle to pour some water at your back so that you can still look nice in front to continue your work. Some of them even use powder and perfume.

After lunch time, at around 1pm, crowd started to move in and environment became very “hot” because of the concert and the traditional Thai dancing performance on the stage. More and more people move in with all their weapons – pails, bottles, anything that you can use to keep water. You will feel the “dangerous” if you are with nothing on your hand, hehe. Quickly I called Francis to bring the “weapon” to save me. Anyway, other then I have one more person to help me, the weapon is useless….you will know why later…

Someone started to attack me from behind; at first I just stand there assuming nothing. Suddenly someone started to pour a pail of water from my head. Then the game start, I don’t even know who did it but I just get a bottle of water and pour to everyone that I can see. I regretted….I have only one bottle…I saw 10-20 of them with their own big pail ( I shouldn’t call it pail…it’s a water tank…now you know why).

Both of me and Francis was attacked and we can’t even see who did it….because the water was pour to us continuously. Then they stop for a while. We open our eyes and saw them pour in some ice cube in the water tank and started to attack all the people around them, everyone around tried our best to “steel” the water from their water tank. At the end, we don’t care whether we know each other or not but everyone around us was totally wet.

You thought things end there? No, definitely not! MPPP water tank lorry came (those watering plants at the road side) with the big big pipe behind and someone “shooting” those at the roadside. I thought it’s still ok because we are inside. I’m wrong again. Two lorries moved into the compound. Everyone getting crazier…everyone on the lorry pour water to every one of us standing around….we can’t do much because we didn’t have that much water although there are still some people pour ice water to them then they will pour more water from the lorry….and we are so happy.

This is the first time for me to celebrate the new year together with so many Thai people but I’m really happy. All of them are good. If they don’t know you, they will greet you first before they pour water on you (before the thing get crazy in the afternoon). So it’s still safe for you to be there in the morning and get out in a dry cloth. If you wanted to stay until afternoon, you better be ready to get wet. It’s no chances for you to get out dry, even you are wearing rain coat, I’m sure that you won’t survive.

Hey man, if you experience and celebrate Songkran, be prepared to get wet and don’t get angry. You will really enjoy the trip and you will really release your tension. I wanted to be there again next year no matter what. I am felt excited and happy with this experience; it’s really a great experience.

This is the photo that my manager taken for me when i just arrived.

This photo was taken after 2 hour standing there. No photo after that, because everythign was too wet d.....

Happy news from a friend....

Early this morning (29/3/08-Saturday), I wake up by my mobile phone. It was a message that I has been waiting for few days.

My friend –SYIN NI delivered a cute healthy baby boy named – JOEL!! Leonard sent me the message to tell me about the good news. I can feel his excitement through the message. I felt like calling them immediately but I’m sure that both of them are very tired.

This news really brightens my day. Friends are like this right? We might not really keep in touch everyday, but on and off, we send a message to update some news or just to say hi, and it brightens our day.

CONGRATULATION DADDY MUMMY and WELCOME BABY JOEL

Baby Joel, you make your daddy and mummy life more beautiful (if only reading this sentences, sounds like I’m the mummy :P)
