I saw an interesting article on Nanyang Newspaper yesterday. According to the writer, this is from China. It’s in Mandarin but I try to translate in English:

At past, singer and actor/actress just need to sing and act but no need to provide extra services (sex); now, singer and actor/actress just need to provide extra services (sex) and they can sing and act. (No offend on this occupation; I just direct translate it from the article)

The Best Thai Restaurant in Jitra - Kampung Siam

The most spicy soup - Keng Som, really spicy....must try if you really like spicy food like me. Another choice of spicy soup other then Tom Yam.



Sotong Goreng - to cool us down after trying the spicy soup



Ayam Pet Pet - Another spicy food that you must try...really spice you up!!



Crab meat Taufu - to save you if you really feel like craying after 2 spciy food.



Coconut Jelly - Never the same with others, this is still the best after trying it else where. This is the only dessert that we will order when we eat there. Need to be early, limited stock available.

Saturday Night

What do you always do at Saturday night? Today, after swimming, Francis and me decided to go to Campbell Street for our dinner. We park at the road opposite and walked to Campbell Street.

It looks lively from outside, anyway, nothing special inside. Hence, we walked to Lorong Leith nearby.


There is a so call "largest" and "new" hawker center named "Red Garden" . Various of foods from many contries: Philipines, Thailand, Japan..... Many foreigner have their dinner at here too. Obviously, I chose Thai food as usual. This is the only Thai stall, providing good food and good service with handsome staff :P.The tom yam really taste good.
Can see all the ingredients? Worth RM 6.00 with the ingredients and the service provide.

As usual, Francis tried the Green Curry rice.
It tasted good too.

After the dinner, we walked around and we see things that we never see in the morning or by driving. We see the real Penang.

Many people come to Penang because of the beaches, food and the shopping complexes. No, Penang is never only about these. There are many different prospect of Penang.

Along the walk, we see many prostitutes and many desperate men. All the prostitutes standing quietly looking for their potential customer and approach them when they found any. The men also walking around to look for suitable target, approach, negotiate and both walked to the nearest motel. This is the dark side of the Penang, the cruelness of reality.

Anyway, Penang have the traditional style of living which is hidden in between the old shops, old houses among the modern building. This is the side where we can and should enjoy.

Modernize old houses.........They renovated and trnsform the old houses to guest house.
Not only accomodation but they provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, internet service, car rental, tour and tickets to many places.
This Saturday night was a special night. By walking, we open our eyes and see Penang from the other prospect. We never enjoyed the night so much and we found a new activity that we can do at night now.

Happy Birthday Francis

22 Feb is Francis birthday. He always tell me that he would like to have a birthday celebration with his colleagues, so I decided to fulfill his wish but of course not that easy.

21st Feb, I bought champagnes and Vanetta ice cream, kept in the fridge. I surprised him and gave a gift at 12am (so he won't expect to have celebration again on the morning). Early in the morning, I told him that I am going out to meet customer, in fact, I went to his office at around 10am. I brought a cake, a breakfast set from Coffee Bean and of course with a real gift for him with one of his colleague's help.

Thanks to his bosses and colleagues which celebrate together with us. This photo was taken by his Company VP, Mike.

This might be a simple and cheap way of celebration, but my main purpose to to fulfill his wish and I believe that I did.

Lydia

Lydia Sum passed away on 19 Feb around 8am. Although it’s expected but I still feel the sadness. She never knows who am I but I watch her movies since I was young, just like many other people who feel the lost.

Just like Leslie and Anitaa, Lydia is also a part of our memory. They accompany at our young ages and they might be the only thing that linked us together with our parents. Our parents might not know who Jay Chow is, but I am sure they know Leslie, Anitaa and Lydia.

This is the power of a great star. Only successful and greatest star can do so. Their story of success, their attitude, their personality affected many people, changed many people even they are no longer here.

Let’s solute these 3 greatest stars, rest in peace….Lydia.

Valentine 2008-2

In my last post, I did mention that we go for a dinner after the small little game. We decided to have it in Secret Recipe. It's cheap and simple yet taste good. Only RM 58 per couple, much more cheaper then Manhattan's Fish Market which cost RM 49.00 per head.

Actually we are quite tired after whole day working. That’s why you see me in this post. On the table is the spring roll as per listed in the Valentine set.

My cheesy macaroni set. I like the little candle on the table. It's just a normal candle but into a cup filled with strawberry juice. I like floating candle :).

Those who like cheese will really like the cheesy macaroni.

Valentine day-1

This is the 6th Valentine day that I celebrated. That means our relationship is coming to the 6th years. It might sound long to some couples but for us, this is still in our planning. Since the first day we started this relationship, we have a 7 years plan. We are working hard for the plan now.

The 6th Valentine Day was a little bit different. Since the last few years, I always ask him not to celebrate Valentine Day because we want to save all the money and no point buying those expensive flowers if I am the one who is selling it but he always give some surprise. This year, I really enforce that we do not buy expensive thing and we really make it. This is not an expensive Valentine day but worth both of us to remember it because it is special.

We decided to meet up at Queensbay Mall after work. I arrived earlier and did some shopping while waiting for him to come over after his work. My mobile was run out of battery; hence I gave him a call form public phone. At first I was just thinking of meeting up with him at popular and suddenly an idea come out of my mind.

I decided to play a game with him just like those in the movies. We didn’t promise where to meet up but he has to look for me within the compound. Of course, I don’t want both of us wasting too much time looking for each other in a big shopping mall then quarrel for it. So, I limited him to the lower ground floor. I just walked around and from far away I saw him coming down from the escalator. It’s too fast for him to find me, so I decided to stand at the corner, in case he see me, then the game ended and we just go for a dinner. Hehe, like what I predicted, he is not the person who will go for detail, so he didn’t see me standing right beside him watching. He passed by.

Ok, then I continued to walk around for window shopping and I estimated the time that he finished one round, now it is his time to look for me start from the other ended. So I walked to his direction, again, I saw him walking towards me and I hided behind a pillar. He didn’t see me because he gets attracted by a movie in Speedy (I was just standing behind him). Lastly, he found me because he recognized my voice when I meet my friend there, hehe.

This is just simple game, cost no money, sound crazy and stupid but we have fun. I think that is the true meaning of enjoying Valentine Day. I like it. Will you like it?

Japanese Restaurant in Jail

I had my dinner in one special restaurant named Oxxxe -Ya, a few weeks ago before Chinese New Year. The restaurant was designed as a jail and serving Japanese food.

I was so excited to try out new thing. So, I posted with the menu.
I like the design and the environment.
This is the bar (Emm, not only for alcohol but for the sushi as well). One of the bartender is a foreigner, quite handsome :P.
The menu...not cheap.... I am still ok at that point of time, since they put in effort to design the place. So i ordered a bimbimbap and i think Francis ordered some mee soup, I forgot about the name d.
Everything turned bad the food was served. The green tea was so expensive only a tea bag with hot water (but it’s the best of the night :P). Believe me...how expensive is it? This one cup of so call " Green Tea" cost us RM 5.90. Although they said free flow, let me tell you, just pour in hot water only and the hot water cost us RM 5.90!!

I thought it is still ok, as long as the food is good, but seems like they really want to ruin that night. My bimbimbap came, when I saw the rice without any steam coming out, my heart already half stopped. A bimbimbap should serve in really hot condition when all the steam still coming out in a hot bowl. The bimbimbap that they served was no steam and not even hot at all!!

Then the mee soup came....we almost pengsan, it's just like the steamboat that we eat during Chinese New Year (and the one my mom cook is much more better then theirs).

Too bad, we didn't take pictures of the food, because it's so irritating until we forgot about taking picture. The outlook is bad, the taste is worst.

Oh ya, we did ordered some sushi. It takes around 45 minutes to serve a plate of 4-5 sushi, we have to keep on asking on the "status" before the sushi finally served and it really scared us...that is the worst sushi that both of us ever had.

The conclusion of that dinner was:

Good environment (may be not good at all to some people) but worst food.

All the above is just my personal opinion on the experience I have in that restaurant. It does not mean to create any damages to them. If they see this blog, then I hope that they can really improve themselves and I AM WILLING TO GO AND TRY AGAIN IF THEIR IS ANYONE TELL ME THAT THEY ARE GOOD IN FUTURE.

Envious, Jealous

Enviousness and jealousness might sounds too serious but I can’t think of the other words to represent this feeling.

Have you this feeling like: “How wonderful if that is me?”, “Why she/he can get it but not me?”, or “ I want to be like her/him”? May be at lease you have just a simple thought like : “ I want that.” And the “that” that you mean is something that you don’t have now and can’t afford to get it now (perhaps for life). Enviousness sounds like some evil feeling, some people might even think like: “She/He doesn’t deserve it. I will try to spoil it.” The enviousness that I mean is different, there is no evil feeling. You just feel like you really hope to have that thing and you feel really sad seeing people have it easily and you really need to work hard for that but you never think of to hurt that person.

I always have this feeling, although I always remind myself that I should thank God for everything that I had and I have. Ya, I really that God for everything but sometimes, some special seasons will really make me have stronger feeling especially during Chinese New Year or long holiday. I feel sad when my mom said that she is boring at home and our neighbors can go for not only local but overseas trips.

I feel sad that I can’t make more money to make my family can have better life style; at lease they can retire at the actual age and not keep on working until now. My heart broken seeing the enviousness showed in their eyes when they heard other people talk about overseas trips. I want to be better, I am working harder but sometimes I just feel that I am not capable at all, I am useless and I can’t see that potential of reaching that level.

Our “want” always more then what we have. I want this, I want that and I want more when I already have this. We really need to work harder and harder and harder and the cycle will continue until the day we die……

God, refresh me, strengthen me, help me, and give me the wisdom to overcome the stress and the feeling of enviousness. Help me to do better for my family.

Chinese New Year coming!!

Gong Xi Fat Cai!! Happy Chinese New Year!! Chinese New Year coming in another 2 days. Wish everyone to have a blessed new year with a good health.

How’s your New Year preparation? I think most of you bought your new cloths right? Emm…as a Chinese, I think no matter how bad is the market situation, we will still buy at lease one new cloth for the first day of Chinese New Year. Don’t be upset guy, although you might be able to buy only one cloth this year, it will be better next year, ok?

Others always look better then us but actually everyone faced the same problem – money. I always dream of to have enough money to bring my whole family for a trip every New Year. I haven’t made it until now. That’s why I feel quite stressful every time when it comes to New Year. What to do? Family will always be your family, everyone hope to have what others have, and so, I can only work harder to fulfill this dream.

Since you know I have my problem, I know you also have your problem, what can we do? Wish each other a Happy Chinese New Year lor!! Forget all the bad things and enjoy the New Year, at lease just for a few days! You can give me a call or invite me to your house if you want.
