We took 10 days to fulfill this plan, start from 17 Oct- 27 Oct. Actually all these start from the invitation for us to attend a wedding dinner in KL. I wanted to back pack for so long, although this time is only in Malaysia and with help of some friends, but I think this is a good start. If you have the same dream as me, you might start with this plan.
On 17 Oct, on the way to KL, we dropped by Songkai hot spring. This is a good place to relax yourself. The entrance fee is RM 10.00 per person. If you go on weekday, there will not be too many people and you can enjoy the hot spring as long as you want. There is a facility to cook eggs, little tips for you; you can bring some eggs to cook half boil egg (of course, you need to smuggle in, hehe). If you do not mind paying more, you can buy at the entrance (anyway, I’m not sure how much they are selling). Francis and I even bring a tupperware with soy source and pepper (o, remember to bring spoon). Due to time constraint, we just stopped there for 2 hours before we proceed to KL.
At KL, after the wedding on Friday, we stayed in a budget hotel named Top Hill, it’s quite near to LRT station, not a bad choice if you want to stay next time. We still got time to visit One Utama on Saturday night after the wedding ceremony. We moved to stay at our friend house located at PJ seksyen 14 and we are lucky, it’s an accessible place to everywhere we want to go. In KL, it’s not a good choice to drive if you are not familiar with the road in town. So, the only place that we drive to is National Zoo. The entrance fee is RM 15 per person. At night, we went to IKEA.
Monday (20 Oct), the original plan is to get the free ticket to skybridge at Petronas tower. Too bad…it’s close on Monday. Don’t worry, that give us more time to spend in Akuaria KLCC. With Mykad, the entrance fee for adult is RM 28.00. We spend almost whole day there just to make sure that we watched all the feeding. At night, we visited the night market at Seksyen 2, good trip; at least I managed to get 2 scarves at RM 10.00each.
Tuesday (21 Oct), we make our trip to Genting. On the way, we dropped by Batu Cave. When we arrived at Genting, it’s quite late in the afternoon, so we decided just to walk around to enjoy the night. Wednesday (22 Oct) , we buy the unlimited rides ticket for all parks. Although the weather is not too good, we still manage to play for all the games that we want. At night, we went for DREAMZ the magic + dance show (tickets is free for us when we book the room for 3 days 2 nights). Actually the main attraction for the show is the white tiger and lion…which come out only around 1 minute during the show only…To make the trip worth it, we pay RM 100 to take photo with both the lion and the tiger.
Thursday (23 Oct), we make our move to Melaka, on the way stopped by at Bukit Tinggi. Emm…not really attractive, not worth it if you purposely make the trip. We still managed to make it a worth trip…because we rent a KIMONO for RM 40 per set and take pictures at the Japanese Tea House. Haha, don’t laugh when you see the pictures.
We arrived at Melaka near to dinner time, after check in at City Park hotel (a good hotel to stay if you can ignore the pub outside the hotel), we went for Satay Celup. It’s just LOK-LOK with the satay paste as the soup base but taste nice and the most important thing is CHEAP-much cheaper then LOK-LOK in Penang. Both of us eat around 40 sticks + 2 bread + 2 drinks and it cost us only RM 26.
Friday (24 Oct), Melaka Zoo… This is the best zoo in Malaysia that I been too. We can interact with the animal closely. Not like National Zoo where all the animals is lock in a cage and it’s quite hard to spot for them. The entrance fee is only RM 7.00. Emmm…tell you something, don’t tell people, I give some biscuit (anyway, next time I will bring fruits…I don’t want to kill them) to the sun bear and they all are so cute…later I will upload the video clip to you tube and I’m sure you all will agree with me. Luckily there are not much people on that day, I don’t want to do it in front of kids, just in case they simply throw bottles of stick to hurt them. The Orang Utan are also very cute. The female Orang Utan knows how to post when you call them. The male one even knows how to use a bottle to fill water and drink it from the bottle like human beings. We walked from 11am in the morning until 5.45pm in the evening in Melaka Zoo, it’s really worth it. A tips for you, don’t go on Friday, don’t go if it’s raining too, weekend will be good time, they will have animal show, elephant ride, and can take photo with Orang Utan. Too bad, I went on Friday and it’s a rainy day (and I can still spend almost 7 hours there). After come out from zoo, we walked to opposite and visited crocodile farm. The only conclusion I can make from the visit…All crocodiles are the same…only 6 poses, close eyes, open eyes, close mouth, open mouth, inside the water and outside the water. Entrance fee, RM 5.00…not worth it. At night, we went to JONKER STREET. Good place to visit, I will make sure I go again. Not for shopping, but to enjoy the environment, to see the buildings and of course to see the things that they sell.
Saturday (25 Oct), Melaka one day trip, we have the chicken rice ball near to Jonker street. After that, we went for A Farmosa and the museums around. Then we managed to window shopping at Dataran Pahlawan as well (actually just to get some air-conditioner). At tea time, we stopped at a shop in Jonker Street, they offer good Nyonya Asam Laksa and Baba Laksa. That’s really a good meal. During dinner time, we planned to have another Satay Celup but we ended up eating a good “duck noodle”. Why? Because the queue is too long….Then we end our trip and back to KL.
Sunday (26 Oct), we make our last try to Sky Bridge and failed again. The free tickets finished by the time we reached there at 11am. A lady told us that she was there at 7.30am and the queues were already very long. She managed to get her ticket at 9.00am to go up to the sky bridge at 12.30pm slot. Conclusions, to get free ticket, go before 7am. So we just go for last shopping at Sungai Wang and LawYat. We start our journey back to Penang at 6pm. Just the right time for us to have our Ipoh bean sprouts chicken dinner at Ipoh when we arrived at 8pm.
We arrived Penang at 11.300pm on 26 Oct. So we still have one day to rest on 27 Oct. Good trip? Do better online research before your trip and I’m sure you will have a better trip.
